Precision cutting makes the most of each material and prepares the components for the following stages.

Since 1964, we have been crafting handbags and small leather goods for some of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses, combining artisanal expertise with Italian excellence.
Our departments express quality through materials, craftsmanship and expertise.

Originally from Calabria, Carlo Salerno arrived in Florence in the 1950s. He learned his craft from Loredano Ciulli, a craftsman and entrepreneur of the time, with whom he built a relationship of work and deep mutual respect. Before finding his own path, Carlo had worked in a variety of jobs, from croupier to pharmaceutical sales representative. These different experiences helped shape his character and his approach to work, always guided by a conviction he loved to repeat: “Things must be liked in order to be done well.” In the 1960s he founded his first leather goods workshop, Carlo Salerno, now known as “VERDE RANA S.R.L.”
Today the company is led by his son, Lucio Salerno. The founder’s grandson, Carlo, named after him, is its future owner: three generations of one family.
A brand is often born of research and intuition, and of the desire to make a mark. Lucio Salerno recalls the beginnings of the family business in 1964, in a thriving Florence determined to bring the quality of its craftsmanship to the world. It was the era when names such as Mandarina Duck and Blumarine were beginning to emerge and colour was everywhere. In that atmosphere, a designer friend of Mr Salerno came up with the name “Verde Rana”. Since then, Verde Rana has become a name in high-end leather goods, earning the trust of prestigious clients and meeting the challenges of an evolving market with refinement and professionalism.

With 2,500 square metres of space and more than 60 employees, the company has embraced advanced technology since 2009 without compromising its deeply rooted artisanal approach. Skilled hands and creativity continue to serve the Made in Italy tradition of style and elegance. Lucio Salerno and Verde Rana do not aim to be the biggest in terms of volume, but to be among the very best in the quality of their workmanship and the beauty of their products.
Handbags, small leather goods and accessories made for prestigious Italian fashion houses carry this story of allure and exclusivity forward, with the same perseverance and determination that have defined the company since 1964.
